As a professor, clinician, supervisor and consultant for more than 25 years, Dr. Jeff Ball has a strong foundation in analytical psychology. Dr. Ball has worked in both the private and the public sector at the Veteran's Administration and UCLA and at another residential treatment facility, Bridges to Recovery. His experience ranges from children with autism to the severely mentally ill. He is dedicated to his field and has made a practice of learning, researching and publishing on topics such as caregiving, relationships and autism. Because of his wide range of experience within the field of psychology, he is able to bring a fresh and unique perspective to each individual treatment. Dr. Ball is a native of Los Angeles and alumni of UCLA where he earned his Masters and Ph.D. in clinical psychology. Early in his academic career his concentration was autism, and he trained clinically within the psychoanalytic model, working specifically with mood disorders, including depression and bipolar disorder. Upon graduating Dr. Ball opened a private psychoanalytic practice and served as assistant professor at the University of Southern California. Dr. Ball currently maintains his private practice and is an integral part of the psychological community at PCH Treatment Center serving as Executive and Clinical Director. Over the past several years Dr. Ball has developed an intensive treatment program that directly addresses the specific issue of clients who do not require a psychiatric facility, yet need more than the superficial care offered in spa-like treatment facilities. Many of these middle-ground patients have difficulty in just a once or twice per week outpatient treatment, but are traumatized when included with more disturbed patients in a psychiatric hospital, where they also tend to more heavily medicate. PCH Treatment Center is an alternative -- a treatment facility designed to help individuals who are experiencing significant life difficulties but also need a safe and therapeutic environment to facilitate healing and happiness. The philosophy at PCH is to utilize as little medication as possible to maximize effectiveness of the psychotherapeutic model. The focus at PCH is not to label patients but to treat the underlying issues and focus on the areas causing difficulty. PCH provides each client with state of the art treatment options to facilitate the individual healing process. The goal is for each patient to receive the best, most individualized care at a reasonable cost. There are varieties of treatment programs available ranging from day treatment or partial day Transformative Dual program. The PCH Residence House offers a home-like atmosphere in an upscale residential neighborhood on the Westside of Los Angeles where health and healing remain the top priority. |
